WHEN THE HAND SUBLIMATES THE MATERIAL

At Nitto, we don't start knitting with a pencil, but with words. Before the slightest sketch is made, everything is written down: the yarn, the machine, the size of the needles, the stitch, the tension, the cut. Sometimes it's the design that inspires the choice of yarn. Other times, it's the yarn itself that dictates everything.

Sweaters, hats, scarves or gloves, each piece follows the same demanding ritual.

Next comes programming: a technician codes the movements of the needles so that the machine knits each stitch with precision. Then washing and fulling reveal the feel, volume and suppleness unique to each material.

Assembly is done by hand or machine, with almost surgical precision. Overlocking, remeshing, final adjustments. Everything is designed to preserve the shape, comfort and elasticity of the knit.

The final step is ironing, which sets the seams and reveals the final silhouette, whether it's a perfectly cut sweater or a soft scarf.

Behind each piece are hours of adjustments, patience and genuine French craftsmanship that Royalcheese is proud to highlight.

In June, the Royalcheese team had the opportunity to visit the Nitto workshops in Clamart. It was a real immersion behind the scenes of knitwear production, amid the clatter of machines, the smell of yarn and the bursts of color from the carefully aligned spools.

In this space, where everything seems to be calibrated to the millimeter, there is an atmosphere that is both focused and warm, typical of places where skill counts as much as passion.

We saw sweaters come to life before our eyes, from raw yarn to finished garment. Nothing is left to chance: every tension, every stitch, every wash is part of a perfectly mastered choreography.

At Nitto, we feel that craftsmanship cannot be explained, it must be experienced. Every employee knows their movements by heart, every adjustment is made by eye, every detail counts. We leave with the feeling that these sweaters are not just manufactured: they are designed, crafted and loved, from the first thread to the final ironing.
